Lazy is my superpower
Burned out? What you do is crawl back in your den
and just take it easy. Don't stress! Okay then...
Lazy like Garfield. Asleep in debris.
Rest and recharge. If you can, by the sea.
If you can't, take a walk in the woods. Hug a tree.
Looking for pieces to build a new me.
Pills? Not as bad as a wheelchair, I guess.
Wasted some years? Shed some tears? It's like chess.
Some pieces you sacrifice. Nevertheless,
I'm on the move. Have some things to confess.
Meek little me? Not how I see myself!
I see pride! I see power!* A new tale to tell.
It isn't a solitaire journey to take.
Unless I choose otherwise. Not! Gonna bake
us a cake, Al! And tell you what's up.
Half empty, half full, gotta drink from that cup
and pour me another one. No, make that two.
Full to the brim. It's tap water. I do
sing every Friday. Most fun that I've had
in years. Or a decade. A confidence man.
With that karaoke machine, yes, I can.
I live in a flat, have my own set of wheels.
Not much of a job, but it pays all the bills.
Me and the waitress went out on a date,
but I'm not her William and she's not my Kate.
No biggie. I still have my mum and my dad.
To lean on a little. Sometimes, I feel sad.
Sometimes, I feel happy. That's something, you know.
I sing to myself, just go on with the show.
I sing to myself, a rose for my Rose.*
Uplifting, that song. We'll see how love goes.
Anyway, Al, we shall talk again soon.
Time to get busy...
...lazing on a Sunday afternoon!*
