Blacksmith's Blues (A Lament for J.D. Morrison, in G minor) (Kovačeva žalostinka, J.D.Morrisona, g-mol)

I brought my fortune to a drunken blacksmith
He took it for the misfortune he was with
And he hammered it heavy
Yeah, he hammered it hard
Hammered down deep into the sour ground

He had only desperate widows to woo
Couldn’t tell a sword from a rusty horse-shoe
Life had hammered him heavy
Life had hammered him hard
Hammered down deep into the frozen ground

Long have I roamed the lands abandoned by Lord
“APPRENTICE WANTED”, read the rain-washed–up board
Rain had hammered me heavy
Yeah, it hammered me hard
Hammered my head, drove me across his yard

Times have been coal-black since I wandered & strayed
Forgotten reasons for apprentice I stayed
Kept on hammering heavy
Kept on hammering hard
Hammered my soul into the battered ground

Hammer swinging high & diving low
The anvil echoes chanting legions (from the Pit) below
Under the scrutiny of a traitorous crow
Cawing the pace on a galley where I repentantly row

Sweating tears & recollections
Beating to oblivion emotions & reflections
Hoping they shall all fade
Before to rest I’m laid

In the beginning,
Lord created Light
The Fallen Seraph took advantage of Night
His free will was to be proud, defiant, to fight & to lose
We, offspring of first Man and Woman,
swarmed this Earth later & can only report through the Blues
