At the End of the Gravel Road

The road stretches through the fields of corn,
Autumn scents send impulses my way.
On the back seat, I slept through dreams,
You walked on, I was left astray.

At the end of the gravel road stands an old sign,
Worn down like the steps we once made.
I left my hat there, and your scarf behind,
Sometimes memory’s all that remains.

In the roadside bar, old songs play,
A drunk at the counter stares at an empty glass.
Laughter fades, and a sparrow calls,
Blowing dust from the palms that once held yours.

At the end of the gravel road stands an old sign,
Worn down like the steps we once made.
I left my hat there, and your scarf behind,
Sometimes memory’s all that remains.

If you ever pass by, stop for a while,
Maybe you’ll still smell that scent of grass.
I never finish the path along the gravel,
We just pause—lost in nature’s embrace.
