His form, a silhouette, fading slow,
Yet some fleeting exchanges forever will stay.
Like most kids I struggled, my heart in a spin,
With laughter like thunder—oh, how happiness spills!
It was not to be, the whispered thought,
A fleeting moment, a lesson sought,
The man smiled at me, a gesture so kind,
In that quiet exchange, our hearts intertwined.
His eyes held stories, of laughter and pain,
Yet words eluded him, like shadows in rain,
With a warmth in his gaze, he bridged the divide,
As if he understood the silence inside.
Then off he trundled, into the glow,
His form, a silhouette, fading slow,
Into the afternoon, where the cool breeze swayed,
Through leafy avenues where memories played.
Gone forever in an instant, he slipped from my view,
Into the embrace of the trees, rich and true,
A vapor trail on the horizon, a wisp of the past,
A moment suspended, yet vanishing fast.
Time holds its secrets with a gentle hand,
Leaving echoes of laughter, like grains of sand,
The world keeps on turning, as we lose our way,
Yet some fleeting exchanges forever will stay.
I ponder his smile, a reflection so bright,
A fleeting connection, now caught in the light,
Though paths may diverge, like rivers that roam,
In the heart's quiet room, he’s forever at home.
So here I stand, in the hush of the day,
With thoughts of the man who just wandered away,
And though words may falter, and silence can reign,
It was not to be, yet still, I remain.
With dreams like balloons, they’d float and then thin,
Like most kids I struggled, my heart in a spin,
What did I want? Oh, it often felt tough,
In a world full of choices, just figuring enough.
Was it trains or it rockets, the stars or the sea?
A cowboy, a hero, who would I be?
But one truth shined clear through the fog of my doubt,
I was all boy, all boy—no question about.
With dirt on my sneakers and grass stains on jeans,
Adventures awaited in forests and streams.
I climbed the tall trees and raced down the hills,
With laughter like thunder—oh, how happiness spills!
