He always said: “You’ve got too much time,”
he used to be a friend of mine.
I said: “that’s simply not true —
too soon I’ll have to say goodbye too.”
I still want the world to see,
in the deepest cave I want to be.
On the highest mountain I want to stand,
and give the native man my hand.
I want to swim the bluest ocean,
walk the driest desert with no loan.
See the Grand Canyon with my eyes,
and talk to monkeys where the Maya rise.
“You’ve got too much time,” they say to me,
“the road will end too fast — you’ll see.”
But when I’ve seen the whole wide world,
that’s when I’ll have a heart of gold.
